S. Moots received a telephone message from Degraff early this morning conveying the sad intelligence of the death in that place of his aged father, Mr. Conrad Moots. At the usual hour this morning Mr. Moots arose from his bed and built a fire. He was in good health and had not been complaining of any indisposition. He was suddenly stricken soon after arising with hemorrhage of the lungs and died in a few minutes. The entire community of Degraff was greatly shocked when the announcement was made of the death. Mr. Moots was a man that every one who knew loved and respected. He was a life-long member of the Methodist Espiscopal Church, and was conscientious and honorable in every act of his life. When a young man he came from Champaign County and settled onb a farm 5 miles west of Bellefontaine, and it was there that he resided continuously until about eight years ago, when he and his wife went to Degraff to make their residence., They bought property there and were living happily and comfortably, enjoying frequent visits from their children. The deceased was 80 years of age the 18th of December last. The 16th of last December the home of Mr. and Mrs. D.S. Moots was saddened by the death of her aged father, and now comes another sorrow,. The children left to comfort the aged wife and mother are, D.S. Moots, of this city; Mrs. J.L. Summers, Degraff; Mrs. Belle McKinnon, residing near Pleasant Grove Church; Mrs. Luther Horn, residing near Degraff; Mrs. Fleet Carr, residing near the Infirmary; Dr. E. W. Moots, Delphos, Ohio; Rev. T.C. Moots, of Oquika, Illinois.
