a. Note:   He became ill in the night, after having worked until 9 o'clock that evening. He hadn't been well all summer. He got the two older boys up before daylight to get the doctor, who stayed all day until Charles died at 4 p.m. His daughter Mabel thought he died of appendicitis...they packed him in ice over night and buried him the next day. He is buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Decatur.
