Note: [Gordon.ged] Mathel Richardson Barnes BLAKELY � Mathel Richardson Barnes, 90, of Blakely, died Wednesday, October 3, 2001, at Early; Memorial Nursing Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Blakely First Free Will Baptist Church with interment in Sowhattachee Cemetery. The Rev. C.B. Dowdney will officiate.
A native and lifelong resident of Early County, Mrs. Barnes was a retired teacher, having taught for 21 years for the Early County School System. She was a member of Blakely First Free Will Baptist Church. She was the widow of John Nelson Barnes and her parents were the late Francis Emory Richardson and Ida Gordon Richardson.
Survivors include a daughter, Amelia Harris of Mableton; four sons, James Barnes of Statesboro, Coy Barnes of Roswell, Ernest Barnes of West Columbia, S.C., and Samuel Barnes of Tampa, Fla.; brother, Emory Richardson Jr. of Colquitt and sister, Winnie Lou Layton of Colquitt; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
