Obituary | Condolences
Berney, Daniel T., M.D., 84, passed peacefully in San Clemente, California early Saturday morning, April 26, 2008. Dr. Berney, was born in Scranton, PA, in 1923. He was an Eagle Scout at age 15 and graduated from high school in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946 as a Destroyer Officer, Asiatic-Pacific Theater during WWII. He graduated from Medical School in 1951, and was in private practice from 1952-1982 in PA and CA. From 1983 until his retirement on June 25, 1994, Dr. Berney was Assistant Professor at LA County USC Medical Center. Dr. Berney loved the ocean, fishing, and his family. Throughout his adult life you could always find him enjoying the beautiful California sunsets. He raised his family in Capistrano Beach and loved to spend time with his children in Pines Park and at the beach. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Berney; his children, Daniel, Christine, Patricia, Thomas, Carolyn, and John. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Vigil is scheduled for Thursday evening, 7:00pm, May 1, 2008, at O'Conner Mortuary in Laguna Hills. Funeral will be held at San Felipe de Jesus Catholic Church, in Capistrano Beach at 11:00am, Friday, May 2, 2008. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest.
