Notes
a. Note:   Joseph John Greim was born in February, 1886 in Philadelphia, PA. His given name is most likely after his mother's father or his grandfather Joseph Richard. This was the first time that this name surfaced in the Greim family from all records found in the United States. His middle name is after his great grandfather John Greim.
In the 1900 census he is listed as being a choir boy and selling wholesale fence at the age of 14.
He was married to Anna Margaret Edgar in 1910 per the 1910 census where they are listed as boarders at a boarding home on 1323 Girard Ave., Phila., PA. with his occupation being an electrician.
Joseph was listed in the 1920 census with the occupation of electrician and the family residing at 5051 Funston Street. In about 1916 Joseph is cited during Electrical Prosperity week as having his electric shop at 232 South 60th Street. The review states:
"Electrical prosperity week, along back in November of last year, has shown how the industry may take advantage of the recent progress in applying electricity to improve general business conditions, especially as to transportation, power, light, safety, cleanliness and economy in production and distribution. it is more particularly in the line of electrical devices and in electric lighting equipment that we direct attention in this industrial review of the progress of West Philadelphia, to the Master Electric, an establishment at 232 S. 60th St., which has come to be generally known to incur------ electrical repair work of every description, house wiring and lighting, electric signs, and every description of electrical supplies. This is a large business, headquarters for things electrical, the patronage is liberal and shows a healthy growth, the direct result of practical experience and sound and equitable methods. Mr. Jos. J. GREIM had had a valuable and practical experience as an electrical contractor and electrical expert covering a period of sixteen years, as a young, hustling and enterprising business man, who has won success by honestly deserving it, and is thoroughly deserving of special mention in this industrial review". - - -See newspaper clipping of Joseph J. and son in front of his Master Electric shop along with the above citation.
Probably around the time that electrical supplies was no longer a novelty, Joseph turned his talents to producing hand-made antiques and metal ornaments in addition to electrical lighting fixtures. His antique and metal shop located at 2758 North Fifteenth Street, Philadelphia, PA states his expertise in making lanterns, fixtures, forging portable lamps, mirror scaunces and modern lighting. - - -See his order memorandum stationery.
