  !Was a sea captain, and served in the Rev. War, in Capt. Huntington'scompany, Norwich 4th Battalion: Was in Wadsworth's Brigade, a Battalion raisedin Jun 1776. To reinforce Washington in New York City and Long Island: wascaught in retreat and panic of 15 Sep when the city was abanoned, and sufferedsever: was with the Army until 25 Dec 1776, when his term of enlistmentexpired. From commissions in possession of his descendants it appears that heentered the Army the following year. (Commission LT. Fire worker of a companyof Matrosses in the 20th Regt. of the State of CT. dated 1 Nov 1777.Second LT. in the same Regt. dated 1779. As commander of the vessel Polly (with instructions) dates 2 Jan 1781. As Commander of a Matross Co. in thesmae Regt. as formely (20th CT.) date 24 Oct 1783. Showing that he served hiscountry faith-fully till the close of the War. All Commissions sealed andsigned by Jonathan Trumbull, Capt. General and commander in Chief of the Stateof CT.
