Note: In 1939 she cared for her mother, Flora, who had had a stroke and was totally bedridden and unable to care for herself in any way; her daughter, Dorothy, who had had several strokes, and was totally paralyzed, blind and needed daily therapy, and her husband, Wallace, who had had a heart attack and was also totally bedridden. In addition, her two grandchildren by Dorothy, Sonia and David, also lived with her. ************ Grandma was an excellent seamstress who made all of her own clothes. She also made the wedding dresses of several of her granddaughters. I remember, when she was in her 80's she made herself a red dress, something she had always wanted but had hesitated to make. She looked great in it! When I was about ten years old Grandma taught me to embroider. She also taught me to make the best chocolate chip cookies on earth. (Gail CAMPBELL SCHULTE) *********** Application for Social Security number (filed in April of 1972, when she was 89 years old) gives place of birth Oneida, NY, parents as Flora BROCKWAY and Joseph GOODENOUGH. Application was filled out by Byron CAMPBELL. ********** From unnamed Detroit newspaper: "CAMPBELL-MAUDE MAE.
