Notes
a. Note:   At the age of 14, Lewis' father James Alexander Brewer died and Lewis became the breadwinner for the family until his Mother Jinnie married John Smith.
Until his later years of life, Lewis' hair was bright red -- and between that and his frequently told stories, everyone knew he was indeed "Irish."
Lewis worked on the RR, as a farmer, and carpenter. He built the first bedroom onto the small home of George and Millie (Mildred) Brewer, which later became Edie's bedroom. During the time of building project, Edie spent every day "assisting" her beloved Grandfather...she brought him drinks, called him into lunch and helped him to "watch his language."
Billy & Edie were very close to their Grandfather, and shared in his pocket change. *'dc* On Most Sunday afternoons, Lewis and his wife Tillie had dinner with George and his family. Whenever Lewis came it wasn't long until he'd mention that he had some "change" in his pocket (of his striped bib overalls, worn with a long sleeved chambray shirt, and accompanying white undershirt) for the kids' penny banks (a large Lincoln penny made of copper-colored plastic).
