a. Note:   RESEARCH NOTES: Sophia's birth date comes primarily through family sources. There is a birth date in the Provo 3rd Ward Records of Jan 31, 1823 and Reorganized Church Records have her born in 1821, but census records are much more consistent with the 1828 year. She married her sister's husband in Winter Quarters. The marriage is recorded on page 705 of Nauvoo Sealings. Her birth date there is Jan 31, 1830. Sophia's Death Certificate is filed in Utah County. She is buried in the Provo Cemetery. Her age as given in the Provo Cemetery Sexton's Record is 96 years 5 days. A history of her life and a record of her children (though occasionally inaccurate) can be found in Carter Pioneers of Provo Utah.
