Note: RESEARCH NOTES: Joshua's birth is from LDS church sources. Joshua was about 20 when his father died on the trek to Utah. He continued on with his brother George's family and lived with them in Provo. A land record in Provo supports other sources (the Early Church Information File and an old archive record for the John Haws and Martha Masters family) that his wife was Hannah Haws. The history of Elias Hicks Blackburn, Hannah's second husband, provides information on Joshua and Hannah's son, Joshua James Sweat. One tradition among the descendants of George Sweat is that Joshua was part of a Church Train going east to help transport immigrants to the Salt Lake Valley when he was killed by Indians.
