Notes
a. Note:   RESEARCH NOTES: The Provo 3rd Ward records erroneously record Amos' birth as 15 Apr 1854. This is the birth date of his brother Cleon. Amos was an infant when his mother crossed the plains in 1850. The story is told of her having small pox and being required to drive her own wagon well behind the rest and care for herself and her infant son during the time she had the disease. Amos Libby appears with the family on census records in 1850 in Pottawattomie County, Iowa and 1851 in Manti, Utah. Many sources say Amos was born in Illinois. This seems doubtful. The Mormons left Illinois in 1856 and Sophia married John at Winter Quarters on the Missouri River, then in Indian Territory. Amos married his half-brother's widow and became a father to her young son. After Nancy's death Amos lived with his sister's family. Amos' obituary was published in the Salt Lake Tribune, Mar 23, 1936 and also in the Deseret News, Mar 23, 1936. The obituary tells us that he helped build the first railroad in Utah County.
