Notes
a. Note:   RESEARCH NOTES: Mary Ann's birth was recorded in the Andover Town Records. No record of her marriage to Joseph Carlton has been found, but their intention to marry was recorded in the Berlin Town Record. Berlin would later become a part of the town of Phillips, Maine. Mary Ann married again after Joseph's death. This marriage is recorded in Pike County Marriages. Correspondence with Flossie Hamden Dere revealed Ebenezer Hamden's origins and told that after his first wife (Deborah Carlton, sister of Joseph Carlton) died in 1872, he "went west, married, and died there."
