Notes
a. Note:   RESEARCH NOTES: Elizabeth can be found in a variety or records. Her birth was recorded in the Andover Town Records. Her marriage to John is in Geauga County Ohio Marriages. Additional references to her birth are in Provo 3rd Ward Records and Reorganized Church Records. Her husband's birth was recorded in the Newry Town Records. If there is a difficulty in working with this family it lies in the inaccuracies in the family histories. Geography gets to be a real problem when our story teller says John and Elizabeth's oldest children were born in Maine. John married Elizabeth in Ohio and they left the state for Illinois within three months. Other family records place the births of the first three children in Illinois. There has been some confusion regarding Elizabeth's death date. Some sources give her death as 17 Sep 1881. The problem here lies in the fact that she and John were baptized into the Reorganized Church on 12 May 1882. The day and month given in this geneology are taken from her tombstone. The year is from the Provo Register of Deaths and Burials, 1858-1915. That record does not give a death date, but is is in chronological order and reference to a Mrs. Carter is recorded between 12 Sep and 29 Sep 1890. Her tombstone says she died in 1891.
