Note: RESEARCH NOTES: Rhoda's marriage to William is recorded in the Pike County Marriage Flat Files. William and Rhoda appear to have separated when their boys were still quite young. They also appear to have lived in the same county for the next 40 years. Rhoda is buried near Roy and Nona Kenyon in the Pittsfield West Cemetery. Census records are challenging for Rhoda. She appears to have gone by Mary, Rhoda, and Sarah. Whether or not she is married or widowed varies. William appears on the 1920 Census liviing in Pittsburg. He is called a widow; Rhoda is listed as married even though in 1910 she was a widow. CENSUS: United States, 1860, Pike county IL Newburgh Twp 191/191 (Mary Carleton household) "Mary age 6, b.
