a. Note:   RESEARCH NOTES: Benjamin's birth was recorded in the Andover Town Records, his marriages in Pike County Marriages and Knox County Marriages. Although his death date can be found on a tombstone in the Elmore Cemetery in Peoria County, Illinois, he is buried in Plattsville, Iowa. He died there when he and Keziah were visiting some of her children. A published history of his son, Henry, also provides some information about his life. Benjamin's wives, Lydia and Keziah, are more difficult to document. They were sisters and their family migrated from Pennsylvania. Mark Phillips, Nadine Phillips, Virginia Horton, and Lolabelle Taylor have all provided information about this family.
