Note: It must be recorded that there is no definate record that the name `John`is absolutely correct. This name was put in so that a link could be made to William Batte. There is certainly a link but there are a few possibilities. It could in fact be the same person as Anthony or it could be another sibling. The assumption is made based on the fact that" a descendant of the Batte family in Scholes"- as quoted in the publication of 1615 "The Estates and Empires and Principalities of the World" a book translated from French by Edward Grimstone Sergeant at Arms and which is currently owned by Trevor Battye and which bears on the title page the name of the oringinal owner William Batte. Oh that I could have sight of this book !!!! My thanks to Malcolm for thses details.
