Note: On the records of the Marriage the spelling of the name was Batte but on the Christening records it was Battie. William had a sibling called John Batte born 1545 Scholes Hepworth. Their father was Richard Batte b.1510 in Scholes the name of Richard`s wife is not known. Richard was a friend of Henry Jackson of Totties Hall and Robert Broadhead and others All these men and their families were Quakers.( information from Malcolm Higgins.)
