Note:   The 1860 Federal Census lists Susan J. in the household of William H.. She is 24 years old and has three children: Samuel, James, and Sarah E., an infant.
  The 1870 Federal Census reported that Susan was 34 years old and kept house. She was married to William and had the following children: Samuel, James W., Elizabeth and John W.
  According to the the 1880 Federal Census, Susan was about 45 years old [which would make her birth year about 1835]. She kept house, and was born in Virginia. She had five sons living at home in 1880.
  The 1900 Federal Census shows Susan as being 64 years old, living with William and her children John, Charly, and William - all farm laborers. It states she was born in October 1835, and that she can read and write.
  The 1910 Federal Census Census shows Susan living in the household of her son Joseph. she is 77 years old and a widow. She is listed as having had 9 children, 5 of whom are alive at that time.
  According to the records of the Union Cemetery in Leesburg, Virginia, Susan died October 5, 1912 of old age, at age 80. There is no tombstone. Figuring from these statistics, she would have been born about 1832. She is buried in Lot 146, Site O.
  She and William married in Washington, D.C. not VA!
