Notes
a. Note:   H160
Note:   Found Mary and what appears to be her mother in the 1850 Census in Loudoun Co. Mary is 25 years old and her mother Jane Hook is 54 years. Jane as real estate valued at 300. She was born in ENGLAND; Mary was born in Maryland.
Mary is listed in the 1860 Federal Census as the wife of James H. Muse. She is 37 years old and was born in Maryland. There are six children listed in the home; but since Mary married James in 1860 in April, she would not be the mother of these six.
Received a Certificate of Death from the State: no parents were listed. Confirmed she died November 26, 1880 in Hamilton, VA of "dropsy". She was married to James Muse at that time. She was 58 years old.
In July 1998, found the names of her parents at the Balch Library in the Tavenner Files: Jane Clapham of England and John B. Hook!
See notes on James Muse, regarding her tombstone.
Her parents are John Burgess Hook and Jane Clapham, who were married in Loudoun Co on May 14, 1816 according to Loudoun Marriage Registry. Married by Littlejohn.
John B. Hook is listed in the Loudoun Co. Wills Index as having been witness to the Will of John Jenkins of Frederick County, MD in 1822. Note: another witness was Samuel Luckett who married a Sarah Clapham in 1801. She is possibly an older relative of Jane.
There is a John Hook listed in the 1820 Census Index for Frederick Co., MD, pg 122, no twp -also on same page is Samuel Luckett.
