NOTICE - Griggsville, Illinois Independent Press March 4, 1925 Thomas Jefferson Hackwith son of James Preston and Nancy Jane BryantHackwith was born near Frederick, Schuyler Co., IL, September 15,1850. In early manhood he came to Versailles, IL to engage in farmingwhere he married Alvina Hall. To this union three children were born,Mrs. H.D. McDannald, Mrs. Oliver Thiele of Chambersburg and MonroeHackwith of Elpaso, IL.
  Mr. Hackwith spent most of his life in Brown & Pike Counties, andlived in the home near Perry Springs for 15 years prior to his death.He was in his usual health until a few days before his death, and onFriday morning Feb. 27, 1925; while Mrs. Hackwith went to summon adoctor he passed to the Great Beyond at the age of 74 years 5 months12 days.
  At a coroners inquest held on Saturday morning the cause of death wasgiven as leakage of the heart. The frail wife who has tenderly caredfor him during their 52 years of married life, deeply feels the lossof a kind and loving husband. The three children survive, also anumber of grandchildren.
  Rev. W. W. Kratzer of Chambersburg conducted the funeral service atthe Chambersburg Christian Church at 11:30 Sunday. The burial tookplace in Hall Cemetery near Versailles, IL.
