Note: ark at age 16, when she was about three months pregnant. Whether a “shotgun” marriage, or simply an advance upon a planned event, the couple remained together for nineteen or so years, having four children. About 1902 or so, Mark and Harriet moved to Manchester NH, for Mark’s new job. Whether the move, or other problems, the marriage failed, and by 1904, Harriet was back in Chelsea, with her younger children. She never re-married. Harriet did not have a consistent occupation. She was a teacher for some of her life, but her main focus seems to have been raising first her children, then her grandchildren. Remaining in Chelsea through 1910, she was in Melrose, with Ralph in 1912, and later lived with him in both Everett and Dorchester. After his death, she moved back to Melrose, with her daughter Ethel and her husband, where she helped raise both Ralph’s orphaned girls and Ethel’s daughters. She died about 1944, in her mid 70s.
