a. Note:   Wilhelm was a mason/bricklayer. He emigrated from Hamburg on the "Pretoria", arriving in New York, May 8, 1905. Worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company, Elizabeth, NJ. Saved money and sent for wife Karoline and four oldest children: Ida, Julius, Anna, and William. (Wanda and Emma died in Europe.) Oldest son Julius got sick on ship so family couldn't disembark in New York. They stayed on board, traveled to South America and back before they left the ship. After Karoline and children arrived, Wilhelm bought a tavern in Elizabeth, NJ, but it did not do well, so they sold it and moved to Racine, Wisconsin, around 1911. Wilhelm Richter's address in 1917 was 1011 La Salle Street, Racine, Wisconsin, same address as Sergei Busarow and Emil Palenshus.
