Notes
a. Note:   [William1.FTW]
There is much confusion about Elizabeth's father. This should be researched further. She is not related to the Middleton Plantation family near Charleston. See Park, VP; Middleton Family File. The unsigned Andrea Collection letter mentions that Elizabeth's father was Arthur Hugh Middleton, one of the signers of the Declaration of Indepedence and that she was also related to Henry Middleton, the first Colonial Governor of South Carolina (this probably is Governor Henry Middleton 1770-1846 who served from 1810 to 1812).
The DAR Lineage Book for 1914 (Vol 110) lists Henry Middleton as Elizabeth's father and Arthur Middleton as her Grandfather (DAR No. 109084, p. 25).
Actually she was the daughter of Hugh Teare Middleton.
