Note: While attending Penn State University School of Veterinary Sciences, Alan joined the Hagehnbach/Wallace Circus in Nashua, New Hampshire to make some additional money. He was a snake handler in the circus and acquired many tattoos on his body. Alan had a great sense of humor which was compounded with the fact that he was a real prankster. He owned a parrot that could curse in long streams of profanity; he also owned a St. Bernard named Tiny.

Started Benson Wild Animal Farm in Massachusetts
While in college one summer worked on a goat farm, got drunk, and had his whole body tattooed.
