Note: Patty was born in Sandborn, Indiana at her parent's farm house in 1932. Vincennes Sun-Commercial April 26, 1953 Page 17 "Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Buckles, 314 South Main Street, Bicknell, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Patty, to Richard E. Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Edwards of Shoals, Ind. Mr. Edwards is stationed at Sampson Air Base, New York. No date has been set for the wedding." Vincennes Sun-Commercial August 23, 1953 Section Two "Ferns, palms and gladioli were arranged about the alter of the First Baptist church at Bicknell at seven o'clock Saturday evening, August 15, for the wedding of Miss Patty Sue Buckles and A/3c Richard E. Edwards. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Buckles of Bicknell. Mr. Buckles escorted his daughter to the altar. She wore a lovely gown of white satin. Ray Tredway of Shoals was best man. Mrs. Buckles chose for her daughter's wedding a dress of charcoal silk with black and coral accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a navy blue dress with navy accessories. She wore a shoulder corsage of pink rosebuds. The wedding reception was held at the Baptist Church hall. They will live at Rantoul, Ill., where Mr. Edwards is stationed at Chanute Air Force Base. A graduate of Shoals High School, he attended Evansville College for two years and Indiana University before joining the Air Force. He is a member of the Shoals Christian Church and Phi Zeta Fraternity. Mrs. Edwards is a graduate of Bicknell High School and is employed by Indiana Bell at Indianapolis. She is a member of the First Baptist Church, Delta Theta Tau sorority Job's Daughters, of which she is a past honored queen." Patty and Richard lived in several midwest states during the 1950s and 60s, including Nebraska, Ohio and Missouri. They moved to Columbia, South Carolina in 1967. After their divorce in 1970, Patty married Phillip Z. Fretwell originally of Florida. Patty retired from the Lexington County (SC) Medical Center in the late 1980s and she and Phil spent the next 15 years extensively touring the US and Canada in their motor homes. They spent the winter months in and around the Florida area. She passed away quietly in her sleep from Alzheimers complications in 2005. I miss you, Mom.
