 Sarah W. Edwards, age 95, of Tuscaloosa, died Jan. 1, 2009, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Dr. Rick Olson officiating and Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
  She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Howard Walker and Mary Pearl Rowan Edwards [sic], her husband, Malcolm G. Edwards, her brother, Rozelle Rowan Walker, and her son, Charles Malcolm Edwards.
  Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Gay Edwards of Montgomery.
  She was born July 23, 1913, in Baldwyn, Mississippi and grew up in Baldwyn. She graduated from Baldwyn High School and Memphis State University with a degree in teaching. She taught elementary school in Mississippi and Alabama. She married Malcolm G. Edwards in 1943 and they were married for 63 years. They had two children, Sarah Gay and Charles.
  She has lived in Tuscaloosa since 1947. She was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in 1949. She was the first director of Covenant Presbyterian's Kindergarten begun in 1955. She retired from the Kindergarten program in 1976. She was active in all aspects of Covenant Church, especially the women of the church and Sunday School teaching. She also sang in the choir and served on many committees. She belonged to the Tuscaloosa Music Club.
  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "In-As-Much" Fund at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa or a charity of one's choice.
  A special note of thanks is given to Beth and Stephanie Hambright, Helen Grammer, and Jackie Wilson for their care for Malcolm and Sarah.
