a. Note:   John came to the United States in April 1852. His eldest three children came with him, as did his wife, Jane. After his arrival, he took residence in the Marcy/Holland Patent area of New York state. He subsequently had seven more children. His mother, Elizabeth carried the maiden name of Edwards, as did John's wife Jane. John worked as a stone mason for one Thomas Humphrey of Holland Patent. As well as his work as a mason, John also pursued farming, first in Marcy, then moving to a farm between Holland Patent and Trenton. The latter farm was known as the Williard farm, and later was sold to the Robert P. Davies family.
  Note that the reunion picture of Jane, John and their ten children was taken in April 1891.
  In Wales, John was a member of the Congregational church, as was his wife. In Marcy they united with the Bethania church, and later, the Welsh Presbyterian of Holland Patent.
  John died at the home of his son, Edward J. Edwards. He is interred at Fairmount Cemetery, lot 208, grave 7, Newark, NJ.
