a. Note:   What can be determined is this: On May 21, 1752, Samuel Charles renounced his Calvinism faith in a formal ceremony the Catholic Church called "Abjuration." His mother also "abjured" and was given the name Marie, as was the custom of the Church. Samuel Charles and his mother were then given citizenship by the government of New France, which was to become Quebec, Canada. From this point on, the descendants of Samuel Charles had the name Thysdel, Tisdelle etc... in Quebec, Canada. Given the English name Newhall or Newhalt, the "dit" name "Noel" is also part of the lineage.
