Note: Obituary...Dewey V. Epperson, 72, 319 Garver Ave. died at 11:20 A.M. Satu rday, April 10,. 1971 in Rockford Memorial Hospital following a short ill ness. Born Jan 14, 1879, in Maysville, Arkansas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mart in Epperson. Lived 45 years in Rockford, coming here from Arkansas. Marr ied to the former Hazel M. VanCore in Rockford Jan 25, 1929. Employ ed as carpenter by several local contractors for 31 years. honorary memb er of West Suburban Fire Department and former assistant chief of the depa rtment for six years. Survivors include his widow, Hazel; two sons, Dewy M., and Chester L. bo th of Rockford; a daughter, Mrs Bernice Justice, Atlanta, Ga.; a broth er , Lee, Rockford; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Zell, Rockford; and seven grandc hildren; several nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by a brothe r, Ben. Services will be at 3 P.M. Tuesday in Julian-Poorman Funeral Home, 304N. 5 th St, with the Rev. Roland E. Florence, pastor at Lincoln Park Chur ch of Christ, Officiating. Burial will be in Willwood Burial Park. Frien ds may call at the funeral home from 7 P.M. to 8p.m. Monday.
