Note: Obituary Notice Josephine (Monteleone) Fazzaro, 95, died Monday, August 16, 2004 at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of the late Dominick Fazzaro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 950 W. Market St., York with the Rev. Fr. Thomas R. Hoke officiating. A viewing will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be 12 Noon Saturday at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born February 8, 1909 in Calabria, Italy, a daughter of the late Michael and Theresa (Sansalelone) Monteleone, she emigrated through Ellis Island with her family in February of 1915, following a 15-day journey on an aged banana hauler. She and her family settled in New Jersey. Due to her quick learning of the English language, Josephine served as an Italian translator for the school nurse during her grade school years. Following her schooling, Mrs. Fazzaro married her husband, Dominick and began caring for her growing family. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, St. Anne's Catholic Church in Raritan, NJ; and was a talented seamstress and dressmaker. Mrs. Fazzaro is survived by two sons, Dr. James Fazzaro of Bridgewater, NJ and Dr. Robert D. Fazzaro of Millville, NJ; two daughters, Mary T. Cugliari of York and Margaret Lozano of Trenton, NJ; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Pustivizi and Mildred Simione both of Vineland, NJ.
