  Mrs. Caroline Sprunger Winteregg, 72 widow of the late Joseph D. Winteregg, passed away Tuesday afternoon at 1:40 o'clock at the Adams County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient for a few days. Death was attributed to pneumonia after she had been ill a week with obstruction of the bowels. The deceased was a daughter of Abraham (Laeng Haemi) and Katherine Moser- Sprunger and was a native of French Twp. She was born on June 15, 1873. She was a resident of this community her entire life. Her marriage to Mr. Winteregg took place on October 13, 1895. The couple resided for many years at 305 W. Dearborn street, where Mr. Winteregg died on August30, 1944. Surviving are the following children: Isadora Hirschy of near Monroe; Gerhart of Lexington, Kentucky; Edna, wife of Ike Marvel of Ithica, New York; Catherine, wife of Ellis C. Lehman of this place; Norman of Englewood, Ohio, and Ruth, wife of Joe Brewster of this place. There are also 19 grandchildren. Brothers and sisters surviving are: Mrs. Sarah Badertscher who has been making her home with Mrs. Winteregg here; Amos Sprunger of Seattle, Washington;Lewis of this place; Abraham (Hamsy) Sprunger of Fort Wayne and a half sister, Della, Wife of Charles Burkhart of Findlay, O. Three brothers and four sisters preceded her. They were Henry, Eli Noah, Mrs. Jacob Steiner, Mrs.Peter Stauffer, Mrs Philip Huser and Susan in childhood. The body will be returned to her home this evening where friends and relatives may call. Funeral sevices will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning at the First Mennonite church with Rev. William Hygema of Englewood, Ohio, officiating. Burial will be in the M. R. E. cemetery. [ The Berne Witness - Wednesday, October3,1945 ]
