Text:   Muster Roll of Captain James A. Sweat's Company Mustered in 9th June, 1838, serving until 19th day of August, 1838. This company�s total pay for their services was $4515.33 and receipt signed by their captain at Waresboro, Ware County, Georgia, August 11, 1839. Called out to repel Indian invasion in Ware County, Georgia.

a. Note:   e affair and seperated from Sarah before the birth of their son James A. Sweat on 29 Dcember 1806. This was 19 months after the birth of Berrien.
  Another possibility is that David A Henderson (1775-1825) is the father of Berrien Sweat (Henderson) the mother may have been one of Nathaniel Sweat's older daughters. This would serve to satisfy the legend that James A Sweat was his uncle. It also helps to explain Berriens name change in 1829 since David A Henderson died in 1825 and his Wife Winnifred Dyess Henderson moved to Brooks County Florida.
Note:   It is possible that Berrien's mother was Sarah Jarrell wife of Nathaniel Sweat. Around August 1804 Sarah may have had an affair with Michel Henderson that lead to the birth of Berrien Sweat on 25 May 1805. Nathan Sweat may have found out about th
b. Note:   . Berrian Henderson owned a large plantation near Blackshear, Ga. He married 4 times according to legend-his wives...Jerrold or Jarrold, Charlotte Byrd, Julia Ann Newbern and Martha Ann Davis. He was the father of a large family. At his death he willed each of his children 200 acres of land. None remain in the family. He owned many slaves and the first grave in the Berrian Henderson Cemetery was one of these slaves which is not far from his and Julia Ann's grave. Most of his children and their children are buried in this cemetery. His children: 1. Charity born 1830 2. Lewis J. born April 15, 1831 3. Elizabeth born 1833 4. John J. born 1836 5. This group meeting today placed a slab and head marker on the grave of Berrian and Julia Ann Henderson's graves, Cemetery located near Blackshear."

g. Note:   Martha had been caring for his wife, Julia Newbern, and her 10 children with Berrien. After Julia died, Martha married Berrien to continue caring for his 10 children and him.
h. Note:   Berrien was one of the heirs of Christopher Mercer in 1846 Ware Co GA Ed Henderson has recently passed on a document that he acquired from Huxford Genealogical Society that is in Judge Huxford's handwriting that indicates that Berrien Henderson married the 5th child of Christopher Mercer. This document meets the requirement of four marriages for Berrien and the reason that he was an heir to Christopher Mercer. This document has not been published.
