Enlisted Ware Militia 584th Dist,1827-1828. as Berrien Henderson 1st Lt Ware Militia 451st Dist,9 Aug 1830-1835, Indian War 1838 &1841 Berrien was born as Berrien Sweat, His name was officially changed to Berrien Henderson by legislative action on 23 December 1829. The reason for the change was not listed. It is my personal belive that Berrien's mother was Sarah Jarrell wife of Nathaniel Sweat. I think that around August 1804 Sarah had an affair with Michel Henderson that lead to the birth of Berrien Sweat on 25 May 1805. I also feel that Nathan Sweat found out about the affair and seperated from Sarah before the birth of their son James A. Jarrell on 29 Dcember 1806. This was 19 months after the birth of Berrien. I think that Berrien's father is Michael Henderson # 3028 Is # 3198 Possibly Berriens Brother???? Mrs. Sarah Jarrell Sweat had a child 'out of wedlock' with Mikell William Henderson (who was married to Jane Harris Greene at the time). The child was Berrien Sweat "Benjamin" Henderson. Berrien was legitimized on December 23, 1829 in the Georgia Bastardy Bonds Courts. His name was legally changed from Berrien Sweat to Berrien Henderson.
