Note: Rites Are Said for Loved Currie Lady Funeral Services Held for Mrs. John Ehleringer Thursday Morning Funeral services were held in the Currie Catholic church on Thursday morning at nine o'clock for the late Mrs. John Ehleringer, who passed away early Monday morning, May 6 [1940] at a hospital in New Ulm. Mrs. Ehleringer had an operation for gall stones April 27 and showed slight improvement for a short time after the operation. A heart condition developed and she soon began to lose strength. Sunday, members of the family were called to her bedside as death seemed imminent. She lingered until the following morning. A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral at the Immaculate Heart of Mary church in Currie Thursday morning, when the Rev. Maurice Ehleringer sang the requiem mass and the Rev. Father Jennings delivered the sermon. Among the acolytes were twin grandsons of the deceased. Rev. Father Kearney, of Avoca, assisted with the commitment rites and interment was made in Calvary cemetery near Currie with Lorenz Weinzetl, Cesar De Blieck, Hector La Plante, Theo. Paal, Walter Sweetman and Dennis Hoffman as the pall bearers. Mrs. Ehleringer was dearly loved by a large circle of friends. The influence of her fine Christian character made a lasting impression on those with whom she came in contact and her first and greatest thought and consideration was always as to what was best for her family and friends. Elizabeth Schu was born on February 7, 1876, at Sublette, Illinois, and was at the time of her death 64 years, three months old. She came to Minnesota in 1890 at the age of 14 years. The young couple took up farming and had lived on the farm three miles south of Currie until two years ago, when they moved to the residence which they purchased in Currie. Nine children were born to this union, two of whom died in infancy. The living children are Joseph, of Iona; Emma, Mrs. N.J. Ruppert, of Currie; Matt, of Currie; Agnes, Mrs. E.J. [Altmann], of Dodge, Wis.; Edward, of Iona; and William and Vincent, of Currie, who with their father mourn the passing of a loving mother and wife. Also surviving are twenty-one grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. M.J. Breen, of Fulda, and Mrs. Ann Bieber, of St. [Anne], Illinois, and one brother, Ferd Schu, of Plankinton, S.D.
