Note: Joseph came to the United States about 1890, declared his intentions of becoming a citizen in the County of Warren Circuit Court, State of Virginia. "Joseph Ehrlich, a native of Germany, aged 30 years, being sworn in upon oath, declaring that it is Bona Fide his intentiosn to become a citizen of the United States of America, 1892." In 1895, he reounced al allegiance to William II, Emperor of Germany, "Joseph Ehrlich is now a citizen of the United States of America, Clerk--John I. Teovell." Also named as citizens on Joseph's naturalization papers were Anna Bella Schneider Ehrlich, Katie G. Ehrlich, and Michael Ehrlich.
Joseph was also a pedlar in Virginia.

According to an original document in my possession, written in Cyrillic Russian, my great grandfather Joseph EHRLICH (called Bar Yusher) was born November 13, 1852 in the town of Erzhvilki, Tauragen, Lithuania (Russia in those days). He was the son of Lazar and Brana (ROTHMAN) EHRLICH. The document is dated 1882, just about the time he came to America. About this time he also married Chanabella Schneider, daughter of Shepsa Ben Schneider and Rachel Rothschild. She was born June 21, 1860
