David Edward Towles passed away at his home 12 West Second Street, Sunday, February 6, death being due to chronic endocarditis. Mr. Towles father was a minister of the gospel and pursued his profession for many years. He is survived by his widow, Rose Margreete Towles and one son Lester Ora Towles, who lives at the home. Mr. Towles was 63 years of age. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Monday afternoon from the Pleasant Mound church, west of this city. Rev. Mr. Cuppy, an old friend of the deceased officiated. Burial was made in the Pleasant Mound cemetery. These names also appear in the book "Mrs Paul Berry 985 S Chestnut Chico, Mrs Gertrude Smith, Dick Brockman Route 2 Chico". I believe that Chico refers to Chico, California. Rosa's son, James St. Cloud and family, were residing in Chico, California. MASON NEWS--13 Jan 1938 BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY Mrs. Alfred Turman celebrated her 53rd birthday anniversary on Jan. 7, 1938. She received many nice and useful gifts. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Maycroft and daughter, Marilyn Joan, Jackie Faye Carlson, Shirley Hooker and Mrs. Rosa Towles of Effingham, Ill.; and Mr. and Mrs. George Maycroft and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ernst of Edgewood. A very enjoyable day was spent by all. As they prepared to leave Mrs. Turman's granddaughter sang "Happy Birthday to You." Everyone departed wishing Mrs. Turman many more happy birthdays.
