Notes
a. Note:   Possibility came in 1710 with group from England. 1708 had been a very hard year in the Palatine. It was overcrowded and it was so cold birds fell out of the sky frozen, wine froze in casks. Thousands migrated to England and camped out as there was no place for them. When British subjects began attacking the camps they were sent to the colonies. About 3200 were taken to New York in 1710. There is no record of this individual on a ship passenger list. The information on the family page is from The Palatine Immigrant Volume VI Winter 1984 under the immigrant ancestors column coded H-126 The information on this page comes from Swiss and German Pioneer Settlers ofSoutheastern Pennsylvania and of their remote ancestors from the Middle of the Dark Ages down to the Revolutionary War, H. Frank Eshelman 1917.
The IGI lists in the mormon family library show Eichenberger with names of Martin, Peter and Henry coming from Reinach, Argau, Switzerland. In information back to 1699 this individual is not shown. Therefore it is assumed he migrated to the Palatine before that time. Could have been among the Mennonites banished from Switzerland in the 1600's. The term Reformed for religion is rather generic and could also have been used if there was fear of persecution as a Mennonite. Peter in 1752 was baptized as a Dunker which was assumed to be an offshoot of the Mennonites. The name Dorn and Groff (Peter's wife) also comes from Switzerland (Thurgau and Zurich respectively).
