According to A Guide to Church Records in the Library of Virginia: Littleton Parish was created in 1772 from St. James-Southam Parish (or Southam Parish), which had covered the whole of Cumberland County. When Cumberland County was divided in 1777 to form Powhatan County, St. James-Southam Parish became part of the new county, leaving Littleton Parish to Cumberland County. In 1852, Littleton Parish was divided and Leighton Parish was formed. Littleton Parish cease to exist in 1912 when it and St. James- Southam Parish were absorbed into Genito Parish - e-mail 6/20/2003 from William C.   Notes:
He acquired an additional 200 acres of land on the south side of Goose Creek. Goose Creek in those days was a major waterway. In 1818, he conceived the idea of locating a town and laid off 100 acres in one-half acre lots. These lots were sold on 15 July 1818. He called the town, Leesville. This tract was located where Goose Creek flows into the Staunton River. This junction, at Route 628, goes to Roanoke. The main road through t he Town of Leesville is Route 43. None of the lots was improved until 1826. Since his will was probated on 11 January 1819, it seems like that he could see his life coming to an end and wanted to leave a legacy behind. He called the town Leesville.
At one time there were four stores, two tanneries, two tailors, two cabinet makers, three physicians (Dr. Austin, Withers and war), three blacksmith's shops, a wheelright, a grist mill, hemp and carding factory, two churc hes, a post office, a male academy and later a girl's boarding school. George Mattox owned a cabinet shop and Morton Pannill a dry goods st re. H. R. Lee owned a saddleshop. Many of the homes today are still using stones to make walks and steps obtained from the nearby rock quarry. There were also two mines - barytes and manganese.

 Table Details
A dash, "-", shown in specific boxes in the chart above means that results were not produced for that particular locus. As previously indicated, in the cases of DYS19b, DYS464e and DYS464f, lack of a result may be due to the fact that these allele results are very rare in nature. In other situations, the dash may signify the presence of a null allele or, an allele value that cannot be amplified or obtained using the current testing methodology. Null allele values are generally caused by a mutation at a specific DNA position within the region being tested. This mutation renders the locus uninformative under the testing conditions employed by the laboratory.
There are also some locations listed that are very rare and not present in most individuals. These are DYS19b, and DYS464e, DYS464f.

Your Lee book is FF3977 in our Family Files. These files are all
genealogies and are stored in acid-free folders and boxes.
Unfortunately, at this time we do not have this data base available
online. That may happen in the future.
Thanks for your comments about the DNA project. Wayne has just recently
gotten his reports and found that he was not related to other RHODES in
the project; however, it is suspected that they have connected
themselves to the wrong line. Wayne's documentation is pretty good. We
have had 2 of our regular patrons come in and say that they found out
that they are not even related to the surname they have. One has written
and published a hardbound book on a family he is not descended from. I
think the DNA projects are going to revolutionize genealogical research,
and hope that I can someday soon get into some of them. I have a couple
of lines I would like to check through DNA.
Thanks for checking on your book! We would not want to have overlooked
 anything like that.
  Cordially,
 Lewis
http://www.roanetn.com/williams.htm In Jan 1788, Thomas Williams sold land to Archibald Wright. The 200 ac. were part of a tract conveyed to Samuel Williams, bounded by lands of said Samuel, Alexander Trent and Seymore Scott. Thomas noted the sale took place because of the 5 shillings received by Thomas, plus the 200 lbs. current money paid in hand to Roger Williams. Witnesses were John Lee, Saymer Scott and Creed Taylor.
