Notes
a. Note:   According to Citizenship & Immigration, there is no record of Adam's Canadian naturalization papers even though it is noted on his homestead application that they were seen. See his file folder for letter.
He came over from Germany on the SS Lahn, arriving March 7th, 1890 with 1 friend, Philipp Kolb. US Naturalization First Papers says he came over from Germany in March 1890, landing in New York. On the 1895 Minnesota State census, it is noted that he had been in the area for 5 years, 2 months which fits. Thomas came over in 1881 and Michael came over in 1895, possibly May of that year as the census says he had been in the area for one month. See Michael's page...
According the Uncle Ferdinand, Aug 2000, the Hebigs, Merzs, Ilgs and Weisensels all came up to Saskatchewan together by train to Rosthern. That was the end of the railroad line in 1903. The Theissings came up at a later time.
In the St Killian Church, MN parish book there is a photo of the 1900 - 1901 church choir showing and naming Adam! Thanks to Pat Demuth of the Nobles County Genealogical web page, I have a scanned copy!
St John the Baptist Church, Willmont, SK church records say that Adam was born Aug 14, 1872... His death certificate says he was born Aug 14, 1872, also. The church records in Retzstadt, according to the archivist there, indicate that Adam was born Sept 14, 1868 and according to the passenger list, he was 21 in Mar 1890 so that birth date seems correct.
