Note: * Obituary * Good Lady Dead End Comes Suddenly To Mrs. Thomas Mrs. Mary Thomas, one of the most highly respect ladies of the county died suddenly last Sunday at the old Thomas home place six miles south of Cadiz. Her son, J. J. Thomas, and wife lived with her. She had been enjoying splendid health for some time, and Sunday night ate a hearty supper. She retired early after supper as was her custom. About ten o'clock her son was aroused by a noise from her bedside, and going to her, raised her in bed and called to her. When she failed to answer him he called to his wife and a lamp was lighted, and it was discovered that she was dead. Some heart affection is perhaps the cause of her death. Mrs. Thomas was the daughter of John and Polly Cunningham, deceased, and was born in Trigg county seventy-three years ago next month. In 1856 she was married to James J. Thomas, who died several years ago. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Sam Mahan, of Mayfield, and one brother, Dr. John Cunningham, of Ravenna, Texas. She is also survived by the following children: J. Cul Thomas, of Graves county; Mrs. Charles Pursley, of Hopkinsville and Seldon T., James J., Stark and John Spurlin Thomas, and Mrs. Clarence W. Wilson and Mrs. Ed Spurlock of Trigg county. She united with the Baptist church in early life and ever remained one of its truest and most devoted members. She was of a specially kind disposition, a loving neighbor and devoted wife and mother, and her sudden death has brought sorrow to many whom she had shown some loving kindness in the past. Surrounded by many bereaved relatives and sorrowing friends and loved ones, the remains were buried Monday at the old Starkey Thomas grave yard seven miles south of Cadiz.
