Be it known to all men that I, EmanuelForkner, Of Iredell County in the state of North Carolina, USA, being inperfect mind and sound memory, and calling to mind the uncertainty ofthis life and it has been pleased to god to bestow some small benefits ofthis life to me, I do dispose of them as followeth, I do this my lastwill and testament in manner and form, the following items: I give untomy beloved wife, Elizabeth Forkner, My land and three Negroes, Eliza,Carry and Molly, and all estate of whatsoever kind I am possessed withuntil her death. I give unto my daughter, Anne, one shilling currency ofthis state. To my son, Moses, I give one shilling currency. I give untomy son, Aaron, one shilling currency. I give unto my daughter, Elizabeth, at my wifeÕs decease,one-half of Negro winch, Eliza and her girl, Nelly and their riding marecalled Celcia. I do appoint that if either of my children, Frances orElizabeth, should die without heir, that this estate will fall to theother. I do appoint and ordain this my last will and testament and I dolikewise appoint my wife executrix and my son, Frances, executor.  and Francis Falkner and Emanuel Falkner in Captain Andrew Hampton'sCompany.
  James Falkner reports that Emanuel Faulkner fought in the American
 Revolution. He was a Minute Man in the Cape Fear area.
  25 Sep 1777: Court House Record - "John Gilliam to Joseph Mangum, 80
 Acres on SS Courthouse Prong of Sandy Creek adj Joseph Mangum at County
 Road to William Howels Branch on WS William Howel and adj Manuel Forknerwhere Aron Forkner now lives, including land where said Gilliam nowlives."
  13 Sep 1774: Court House Record - "Emanuel Forkner to Howell Mangum,
 Planter, both of Bute Co. for 80 Acres on SS Court House Prong of Sandy
 Creek, adj to Joseph Mangum at the County Road to mouth of William HowelsBranch on WS Plantation of William Howel including the plantation onwhich Martin Dickerson lived."
  Col. William Eaton's militiaregiment Granville Co,NC --roll taken 8 Oct1754-- NOTE: This muster roll [found in Vol. 22 of the North Carolina, USA StateRecords] is generally
 considered to be the first true accounting of all able-bodied men inGranville County. Those men
 in this regiment are believed to range in ages from young (teens) to mucholder (perhaps even
 some grandfathers!). Relationships were not noted, but no doubt bothfathers and sons are among
 them. You will note the great number of "juniors" on the muster roll.Care should be taken not to
 "assume" relationships, as most likely there are cousins, fathers, sons,brothers, and possibly
 grandsons listed.
