Note: Sent to Port Dalrymple on the "Tryall" febuary 1810. Appointed naval Officer Port Dalrymple Tasmania 1812.In June 1814 2 companies of the 73rd Regiment were sent to Ceylon on the "Windham", they remained there until 1821 when the Regiment returned to England. William took leave on grounds of ill health from Febuary 1820-January 1822.In November 1824 william retired sold his commission and returned to Tasmania on the "Triton" with wife Ann and family arriving on 4 October 1825.He was granted land at Westbury and rented land with William Archer (2560 acres)at Norfolk Plains.He was appointed police magistrate and Deputy Chairman of the Quarter Sessions at Launceston. He resigned in 1835 and returned to England 14 January 1836 Died in London 1839. His wife Ann returned to Tasmania in 1843.
