August Frederick Zerbel, 65, resident of Janesville for many years, died at 7 p.m., Friday, at Mercy hospital after a short illness. He was born in Germany, July 6, 1857 and came to this country when a young man, locating in Janesville. He was united in marriage Nov. 25, 1884, to Miss Regina Brose, Jefferson. To this union were born four children, three of whom survive. They are: William Zerbel, and Mrs. Edmund Lustig, both of this city; and Mrs. Edward Hull, Milton Junction. His wife, one sister and two brothers also survive. They are: Mrs. A. F. Zerbel, Mrs. August Putzkuhn, and Fred Zerbel, all of this city and Reinholt Zerbel, Denver, Colo. For 30 years Mr. Zerbel was employed by Thoroughgood and Co. He was a member of the F. A. U. lodge. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the residence. 437 North Hickory street, with the Rev. S. W. Fuchs, St. John Lutheran church, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
