Text:   The Secretary of war has directed me to issue a commission, in the highest rank attained to each officer relieved from active duty after serving honorably in the Army of the United States during the recent war, who was not been issued a commission subsequent to being processed for relief of duty.
 The commision does not constitute a new appointment but is formal evidence of the highest military rank you recieved. It is forwarded to you with the grateful thanks and deep appreciation of the War Department.

Text:   FRANCIS KENNEDY-Armed forces. Dr. Francis Maxwell Kennedy, 90 of state street in Washburn. A former mayor of Washburn, died at 7:25 pm Monday, Feb 23, 2004 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Lacon.
 Born April 7, 1913 in Lawrence, Ks to Orin and Bealah May Adams Kennedy, he married Elizabeth Cowie on Nov. 22 1940 in Kasas City Mo. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Elinor (and Dave) Everitt,of Mannheim Germany, Mary Beth,(and Fred) Armentrout of Washburn and Sandra (and Mark) Gillhouse of Baraboo, Wis.;11 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by one sister.
 A member of Veterans of foriegn wars, he was a World War 2 Army veteran serving in the veterinary corp.
 A graduate of Kansas state university. He was a practicing veterinarian in Washburn from 1946 until retiring in 1998.
 He was elected Mayor of Washburn in 1965 and held that position for several years.
 Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetary in Lawrence. Amemorial will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Ries-Mc Kitrick Newton Mortuary, Washburn Chapelis in charge of arrangememnts. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Nursing Home, 401 ninth street, Lacon IL.61540

 Old newspaper article from Washburn Leader talks about accident that completely wrecks local car-Dr. F.M. Kennedy's station wagon was completely demolished in an accident on rt. 116A Saturday morning. The accident occurred one mile north of Toluca around 10:45 a.m. Killed in the accident was Dr. Kennnedy's pet collie dog who accompanied him on all of his trips. Dr. Kennedy was taken to St. Francis Hospital and is reported to have several broken ribs.
 The other car involved in the accident was driven by Wayne Imms,32, car dealer. He and his passenger, Gerald Nelson 38, of Waynesville, are reported to be in St. Mary's Hospital,Streator with klacerations of the face and knees.

 From a yellowing old newspaper an article was found that stated Dr. Kennedy of Kansas City, Mo. a member of the reserve officers Corps has been called to service. He was stationed at Camp Wallace, Texas for a short time and was then sent to Fort MoNROE, vIRGINIA. Mrs Kennedy HAS BEEN VISITING HER SISTER IN Tulsa Oklahoma. Dr AND Mrs. Kennedy ARE FORMALLY OF eureka. Dr. Kennedy BEING A VETERINARIAN HERE. he IS A MEMBER OF THE VETERINARIAN CORPS.
