Note: Oh, how to write about Mama? I absolutely adored her and I felt that she rejoiced in all my quirks and accomplishments as if they were her own. Her oft repeated statement about me was that "they threw away the pattern when you were made". But that was said with so much love. My earliest memory was sitting in her lap as she played the pipe organ in the Methodist Church in Rosedale. Music and church have been a lifelong passion for me. Mama was a church organist for over 50 years. Several cousins said that Mama was a child prodigy. It is certain that none of her contemporary kin nor her descendants have that depth of musical ability that was displayed so early in her life. But more than the talent in music, more than the charm, more than the love and concern for others, was her great heart and commitment to "whatsoever things are true and whatsoever things are beautiful". She certainly thought...and acted...on those things. As I watched her approach her death, her only concern was that there be no pain. She stood on the promises of God.
