Note: In the 1850 Census, William E. is listed as a hatter. By 1860, son Silas was listed as a moulder and son Isaac as a hatter, so the boys, as they aged, had jobs in their father's business. By 1879, W. E. was a farmer, share-cropping in Tuscaloosa County. He decided to move his family to what became Sharkey County, where they prospered. William E. and Lucinda Baggett were buried in Rolling Fork, probably in Mound Cemetery. However, one of the floods in the 1880s inundated the cemetery and their gravestones were lost. William E. Baggett's family came from Tennessee via North Carolina. In Lincoln County, Drury and Abram Baggett served in the same regiment in the War of 1812 with Isaac Robertson. That, to me, is a significant association. One of Abram's sons was William. Also, one was Silas, which was the name of William E.'s oldest son. They were in Montgomery Co., TN. In "Muster Rolls of the Soldiers of the War of 1812 Detached from the Militia of North Carolina in 1812 and 1814", published under the direction of the Adjutant General, indexed by Maurice S. Toler; Barber Printing Co., Inc., Winston-Salem, NC, 1926: p. 53: 8th Rgt, Nathan Horton, Lt. Col. 7th Co., detached from 1st Lincoln Rgt., lists Isaac Robertson, Drury and Abram Baggett. Also listed in the War of 1812 was Silas Baggett, pvt, 2nd Rgt (Benton's), TN Volunteers. Roll box 8 #602.
