Note:   Carrie related to me (gdau Jill) that when she and her sister first left home and went to the city, they had a chamber pot (they called it the thunder mug) in their hotel room, but they were so shy and embarrassed to think that someone might hear that they placed the pot on the bed to muffle the sounds!
  Curious about things, Carrie came west with her sister Annie and Annie's husband Axel in a Model T car. Sometimes, to slow the car going down mountains, Axel would have to drag the up-side tires to slow the car. Axel, Annie, & Carrie all lived together for a while in Everett, Snohomish Co, WA. Sometimes Annie & Carrie would be awakened in the night. They would find Axel under the bed 'fixing the car', the Rocky Mountains had so traumatized him.
