  Allegan Journal, 29 May 1896:
 Abraham Fairfield died at his home in Trowbridge, Monday morning, May 25, at the age of 72 years. Sometime ago he had an attack of lagrippe, from which he never regained his health and which resulted in his death. Mr. Fairfield was born in Canada, March 13, 1824, where he spent the first twenty-five years of his life. In 1854 he moved to Michigan, where he married Miss Mary Oatney, to whom eleven children were born. For about thirty years he was a resident of our village, moving to Trowbridge a few years ago, where he resided up to the time of (sic) his death. He leaves a wife and ten children to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Wednesday morning, at 11 o'clock, Rev. Cook officiating.
