Notes
a. Note:   . They were living in Ringsted, Emmet Co. at this time. Census enumeration was made during the first part of the year. Details for each family member include: Johan Johansen born in Denmark, parents born in Denmark, occupation butcher, . Julianne Johansen, age 40, female, born in Denmark, occupation housewife. Roy Johansen, age 5, born in Nebraska.
We are relatively sure this is the right Hans Madsen because the family consists of the father Johan on card 124, the mother Juliane on card 125, Hans on card 126, Alma on card 127, and Roy on card 128. All family members had included on their cards that they had been in Iowa for 4 years. The card for Hans stated that he was born in Michigan and that his father and mother were born in Denmark. The descendant family members had always thought that Hans was older than Armand, but if this census record is correct, it makes Hans younger than Armand.
Note:   The Johansen family is found in the 1905 Iowa state census

On the 1920 United States Federal Census Johan and Mary are found in Yuma, Yuma Co., Arizona (FHL Film 1820051, precinct 4 of Yuma City, ED 132, pg 13A, Lines 30-31). They were living on 2nd Avenue, house #564, dwelling #255, family #291. The census was dated 26 January 1920 and had both Johan's first and last name misspelled: Johson, Johsen 49 years, Male. Emigrated 1889. Naturalized 1895; Mary - 40 years, Female. Both employed at "Motion Picture Store."
