Continued: Emigrated with his children and their families from the Canary islands possibly around 1815 when Spain issued the "Cedula Real de Gracias" granting free land in Puerto Rico. Canary islanders were encouraged in particuar because the Spanish monarchy felt that Canarians would adapt to island life better than other immigrants from the mainland of Spain. On 10 August 1815, King Ferdinand the VII of Spain approved the Spanish Royal Decree of Graces (Cédula Real de Gracias), which granted Cuba and Puerto Rico the right to have commercial ties with countries which were in good standing with Spain. It also granted free land to settlers, as well as incentives for investing money and providing technology for agricultural development to any Spaniard willing to relocate and settle in those territories. 1819 -- On 23 June, Angel Machin witnessed the marriage of Jose Rodriguez of Lanzarote, Canary Islands, legitimate son of Marcial Rodriguez and Margarita Gonzalez and the widower of Gabriella Caravallo, to Maria Concepcion Rodriguez of Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, the legitimate daughter of Jose Rodriguez deceased and Ignes Machin. 1827 -- DEATH: Angel Machin died 16 Sep in the barrio of San Lorenzo, Hato Grande, PR. He was more than 80 years of age at the time of death and received the last sacraments. Nothing else in the record is readable due to the bleeding through of ink from the opposite side of the page.
